The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is one of the world’s most innovative museums of modern and contemporary art.

Opened in 1935, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art was the first museum on the west coast devoted solely to art of the 20th century. It is the museum's mission to reach and inspire a broad variety of audiences by showcasing innovative exhibitions and collections. International in scope, while reflecting the distinctive character of the region, the Museum explores compelling expressions of visual culture.
