California State Route 1

California State Route 1 is the longest State Route in California. It is 655.9 miles long and runs from Ukiah in the north all the way to Dana Point near San Diego in the south. It is known by many names including Highway 1, the Pacific Coast Highway, and the Great Highway. The most popular stretch of the highway is the portion that runs between San Francisco and San Diego. This section of the route offers breathtaking coastal views with beaches, vineyards, and artists’ hamlets as you pass through San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and San Diego.
